  • WHAT IS PLATFO?<br> PLATFO (Plataforma Fílmica Online Española) is the audiovisual content platform of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA).

  • WHAT DOES PLATFO OFFER?<br> <br>PLATFO is the audiovisual content platform of the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) that offers different services according to the viewer's needs: from the viewing of historical film archives to a private space aimed at professionals of the international audiovisual industry. <br>PLATFO Filmo is a public initiative for the dissemination of Spanish film and audiovisual heritage that provides global online access to a selection of the film and historical archives of Spanish Film Library, as well as those of other state film libraries and regional archives. <br>PLATFO Play is an open, public and free space in which to find alternative entertainment on demand. You will be able to find promotional content for Spanish audiovisuals, such as the most recent trailers for Spanish cinema or the titles that will be screened at national and international festivals. <br>PLATFO Search is a search engine that allows you to find out where to watch Spanish series and films legally and safely in cinemas, streaming platforms and international festivals. <br>PLATFO Pro is a professional section with access under registration that is exclusively aimed at agents of Spanish film production and distribution, as well as international distributors, exhibitors and programmers, with the aim of connecting them with recently released and upcoming Spanish audiovisual productions.

  • IN WHICH TERRITORIES IS PLATFO AVAILABLE?<br> PLATFO is available in any territory in the world.

  • IN WHAT LANGUAGES ARE THE CONTENTS AVAILABLE?<br> It is available in the co-official languages of Spain and in English.

  • ON WHICH DEVICES IS PLATFO AVAILABLE?<br> PLATFO is currently available in the main web browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Opera). For technical reasons, it is temporarily not possible to play video catalogs on iOS devices (Safari web browser). During the PLATFO Beta version, applications for mobile devices - smartphones and tablets - will be launched (Android, iOS). PLATFO will soon also be available on smart TVs (Smart TV: LG, Samsung and Android).

  • HOW DO I CONTACT PLATFO IF I HAVE A PROBLEM?<br> Through the ‘Contact’ section of PLATFO or by e-mail to: beta@platfo.es

  • DOES PLATFO ONLY CONTAIN SPANISH CINEMA OR ARE THERE ALSO INTERNATIONAL CO-PRODUCTIONS?<br> The PLATFO Play catalog contains both entirely Spanish productions and co-productions with Spanish participation, following the criteria established by the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA).

  • HOW CAN CITIZENS PARTICIPATE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PLATFORM?<br> During the PLATFO Beta version, any citizen can send their suggestions or questions through the PLATFO "Contact" section or by email to beta@platfo.es

  • IS IT NECESSARY TO REGISTER TO USE THE PLATFORM?<br> It is not necessary to register to use the platform initially, although it is advisable to create a user account to take advantage of all the functionalities of the platform.

  • HOW DO I REGISTER?<br> From the login page you can easily create your new account by associating your email address.

  • WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF REGISTERING ON THE PLATFORM?<br> Registration gives you free access to all PLATFO Filmo content and free PLATFO Play content. You will also have the possibility to create favourites and viewing lists. PLATFO Pro will soon be available for audiovisual professionals validated by the ICAA.

  • HOW MANY PROFILES CAN I HAVE?<br> You will have a single profile with which you will be able to browse through the catalogues that PLATFO offers in Filmo and Play.

  • HOW DO I RECOVER MY PASSWORD?<br> If you are unable to log in to PLATFO, you can reset your password from any device in the login section. After entering your email address under ‘Forgot your password’, a link will be emailed to you to change your password.

  • DO I NEED TO BE OF LEGAL AGE TO REGISTER?<br> Yes, you must be of legal age.

  • CAN I DELETE MY ACCOUNT?<br> Yes, as stated in the Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions, you can request to cancel and delete your account. To do this, you can request the cancellation and deletion of your account from your personal space. Remember that by doing this you will lose all the benefits of Platfo.es.

  • ¿WHAT IS THE QUALITY OF THE CONTENTS AVAILABLE IN THE STREAMING CATALOGS?<br> All the contents of the platform are available in HD or in the highest quality available. Since most of the material on the platform comes from film copies that have been digitised, the image quality may have some defects due to the original support, even though they have been digitised in the highest possible quality.

  • WHY CAN'T I FIND A CERTAIN TITLE ON PLATFO FILMO?<br> The PLATFO Filmo catalogue corresponds to all the digitisations and/or restorations that Spanish Film Library currently owns. We will gradually expand the catalogue in accordance with new digitisations, restorations and agreements with other institutions.

  • DO PLATFO FILMS INCLUDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION SUCH AS TECHNICAL SHEETS AND DETAILED SYNOPSES?<br> All titles appearing in PLATFO's Filmo and Play catalogs include their own information sheet with technical and artistic data about the production, including a detailed synopsis and historical note. Additionally, many of the titles in the Play Filmo catalog include "extra content" in their information sheet, such as images, historical documents related to the production itself, etc.

  • CAN I DOWNLOAD AN IMAGE OF THE "EXTRAS" CONTENT FROM THE PLATFO FILMO CATALOG?<br> To obtain an image of the "Extras" sections, please send an email to fondosmuseograficos.filmo@cultura.gob.es with a description of the materials you are requesting access to.

  • IS THERE A THEMATIC TAG SYSTEM TO FACILITATE THE SEARCH FOR SIMILAR CONTENT?<br> In PLATFO's Filmo and Play catalogs, there is currently the option to find "related content" to the title being viewed, accessible from the title's information sheet. <br>Additionally, in the Play Filmo catalog, you can perform an advanced search using the search engine with advanced filters, which displays a total of 14 filters that allow the user to perform a more detailed and precise search.

  • DOES PLATFO MAKE PERSONALIZED RECOMMENDATIONS BASED ON THE USER'S INTERESTS?<br> Yes, PLATFO offers personalized recommendations based on the user's interests. This is possible thanks to our Cookie Policy (which can be consulted as part of our Privacy Policy). <br>Cookies are files that store information about the user's browsing. PLATFO uses cookies that store and retrieve information while the user browses. In general, these technologies can have a wide variety of purposes, such as recognizing the user, obtaining information about their browsing habits, or personalizing the way content is displayed. <br>Specifically, personalization cookies adapt the content displayed according to the user's preferences or usage history. One example of how personalization cookies are used is recommending content based on browsing history.

  • IS IT POSSIBLE TO SAVE CONTENT WITHIN THE PLATFORM?<br> PLATFO's Filmo and Play catalogs offer users the option to save content via the "Add" button located on the information sheet for each title. <br>Users can find their saved titles in the "My Account" and "My Favorites" sections of the corresponding catalog: Filmo or Play.

  • WHAT DO I NEED TO WATCH CONTENT ON PLATFO?<br> Currently, you can play PLATFO content from the main web browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Opera). For technical reasons, it is temporarily not possible to play video catalogs on iOS devices (Safari web browser). During the PLATFO Beta version, you will be able to play PLATFO content on apps for mobile devices - smartphones and tablets - (Android, iOS). Soon, PLATFO will also be available on smart TVs (Smart TV: LG, Samsung and Android).

  • IS IT POSSIBLE TO PLAY PLATFO VIDEOS ON IOS DEVICES?<br> For technical reasons, it is temporarily unavailable to play video catalogs on iOS devices (Safari web browser). We are working to resolve this issue and offer a complete user experience on iOS devices.

  • WHAT INTERNET SPEED DO I NEED?<br> A minimum internet connection speed of 4Mbps is recommended to stream content in HD.

  • HOW DO I SOLVE A TECHNICAL PROBLEM WITHIN THE PLATFORM? <br> To resolve any technical issues on PLATFO, you must contact the platform's technical support through the "Contact" section by selecting "Technical Inquiry" or by emailing beta@platfo.es

  • CAN I ACCESS PLATFO FROM ANY BROWSER?<br> You can access PLATFO from major web browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera). For technical reasons, it is temporarily not possible to play video catalogs on iOS devices (Safari web browser). <br>The minimum browser versions required to play PLATFO titles are as follows: <br>Google Chrome - 110 <br>Microsoft Edge - 110 <br>Mozilla Firefox - 120 <br>Additionally, we recommend using Microsoft Edge or Mozilla Firefox on devices running Windows 7 or Windows 8, as playback issues have been experienced on these devices with Google Chrome.

  • I REGISTERED BUT I DON'T RECEIVE THE ACCOUNT ACTIVATION EMAIL. WHAT DO I DO?<br> From the login page, you can request to receive your account activation email again.

  • I CAN'T LOG IN WITH MY USERNAME AND PASSWORD. WHAT DO I DO?<br> From the login page, when you click on "Forgot your password," you can enter your email address and you will receive an email with a link to create a new password.

  • I CAN'T HEAR THE CONTENT<br> Some content does not have an audio track. You can check it within the "Sound" category. If it appears as "Sound" and you still cannot hear it, we recommend opening a technical incident using the contact form.

  • A 404 ERROR MESSAGE APPEARS<br> The content located at that URL has changed location within the platform or is no longer available.

Application and purchase of film archives at PLATFO Filmo

  • CAN I REQUEST THE PURCHASE OF FILM ARCHIVES THROUGH PLATFO FILMO?<br> Yes, but the purchase process is currently not available. It will soon be possible to request the purchase of film archives through PLATFO Filmo.

Professionals

  • HOW DOES PLATFO PROTECT THE COPYRIGHT OF THE FILMS AVAILABLE?<br> PLATFO's Filmo catalog, which is open to users worldwide, includes materials that the ICAA, through Filmoteca Española, and various institutions associated with the project publish on the Website, since they hold the exhibition rights to said content or it is in the public domain. <br>PLATFO's Play catalog, which is open to users worldwide, includes audiovisual content that the ICAA publishes on the Website, since the exhibition rights to said content are its property or have been granted free of charge and non-exclusively.

Accessibility

  • IS THERE A SUBTITLING OPTION?<br> Some of the films have original subtitles. For those that do not have subtitles and have sound, advanced AI tools are used to transcribe the video.

  • HOW DO I ACTIVATE SUBTITLING?<br> From the player, if the content has subtitles, you can click on the icon and select the subtitle language.

  • ARE THERE OPTIONS FOR SUBTITLES AND/OR AUDIO IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES?<br> From the player, you can choose the different subtitle and/or audio tracks available for that content.

  • IS THERE AN AUDIO DESCRIPTION OPTION?<br> During the PLATFO Beta version, we are working on improving accessibility measures, including the possible audio description of the content.

  • DOES PLATFO ALLOW SUBTITLE CUSTOMIZATION (SIZE, COLOR, FONT)?<br> The PLATFO video player offers the user the ability to customize subtitles: font, font color, font size and opacity, background color and opacity, window color and opacity, etc.

  • CAN THE VIDEO PLAYBACK SPEED BE ADJUSTED?<br> The PLATFO video player offers the user the ability to customize the playback speed of the titles: either by decreasing the speed (between 0.25 and 1) or increasing it (between 1 and 2).
